O júri deve estar trancado, confabulando sobre os vencedores e tentando o equilíbrio da vitória. Mas o leitor-cinéfilo pode conferir a premiação do Troféu Vertentes do Cinema, pelo olhar particular de seu editor-criador, que acredita que não há filmes ruins e sim subjetividades referenciais inseridas. As estátuas do urso foram baseadas no projeto-escultura de Renée Sintenis (1888-1965). Desde o início do festival, são produzidos pela fundição escultura Noack em Berlim, o mascote marca o logotipo da capital alemã, que também enfeita o logotipo da Berlinale.
